AC Transit (Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District)
Salvador Llamas is the Director of Maintenance for the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) located in the San Francisco Bay area in northern California. Salvador has over 24 years of experience working in the fleet maintenance industry, 16 of which have been in public transit. Before joining AC Transit, Salvador worked at the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) and served in the United States Marine Corps. Salvador started his career in the Marines as a mechanic and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served two combat tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After an honorable discharge from the Marines, Salvador transitioned to a career in public transit. During his career, Salvador has managed vehicle maintenance operations with gasoline, diesel, compressed natural gas (CNG), diesel-electric hybrid, and hydrogen fuel cell-electric hybrid technologies. Salvador also has experience managing maintenance of facilities ranging from bus divisions, central maintenance facility to a 10-story general office building. Salvador is a graduate of the Eno Transit Senior Executive Program, Leadership APTA, and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.
